Problem Solving
In Room 2 we are learning to be problem solvers. We are introduced to a problem, have a talk about the words in the problem and highlight the key numbers. We then have a bit of fun acting out the problem so we really understand what the question is asking us. Then we set off in buddies or our own with some equipment to try and solve the problem. Mrs Ray wanders around asking us questions like:

At the end we have a chat about what we found out and how we went about it. We love it!
Butterflies and Busy Bees!
We have been so busy that Mrs Ray has not had enough time to blog about all our busy-ness!
Our chrysalis hatched into butterflies and we were so so excited watching it happen like this:

We also had a fireman come and speak to us about being fire wise. We really know our stuff and he was very impressed how we know: to give lighters and matches to an adult, if we hear a smoke alarm go off we shout FIRE FIRE FIRE and get low, get down and get OUT, and we meet our family at our safe meeting place outside if there is a fire.
Miss Kemp got us talking and writing about the old treasure chest that is in our class that we had no idea what was inside!
What do you think could be inside?

Autumn Tree Art
On Friday we used water colour paints to create a beautiful work of art. We learnt how to get the brush coloured up ready to paint and how to use it up on its end to give a cool blending technique. We practised drawing trees and then drew them onto our background. Pretty neat, we think!

Elliott Shares His Special Beads
Elliott came to school with a special bag of beads that he wanted to share with us. These beads have been given to Elliott as he has been such a supportive sibling to his brother Hamish, who is going through cancer treatments. Each time Elliott is brave or shows courage for different things, he gets a special sibling bead. He has a very long string of beads and Hamish, his brother has 851 beads for each procedure he goes through!
What a brave family.
