Crazy Haired Kids

We did some crazy hair art on the last day of term and finished them off on Friday.  We spent a lot of time making sure we coloured all the white spaces.

Welcome Back to Term 3

Hello!  I hope you had a lovely holiday spent with your darlings.
I have added this terms newsletter to the notices/reminders page in case it did not make it home ;)

This term we have welcome Jacob from Australia to our class and also had the birthdays of Hana, Lucas, Tyler and Dakota!

We are so excited about our learning coming up this term.

We are learning all about the number 100 this week in maths.  Today we had to estimate what jar we thought had 100 in.......what do you think?

Most of the students guessed that C had 100 "because it is full to the top".

We counted them all as a class and were amazed when we found out the jar A had 100 in it!  We then did some tricky maths to figure out how many were in all three jars!

Lastly we put objects into 10 groups of 10 because we learnt that 10x10 =100!

Market Day

On the last week of term the seniors held a market day.  We went along with our money and had a great time choosing and playing there.

1 is a Snail 10 is a Crab

We used this amazing book for maths this week:

We used it for splitting numbers, introducing grouping (x tables), addition, problem solving and skip counting, like you can see in our flap pictures……..

We also did some fantastic problem solving:

We learnt SO much and will have another look at it in term 3!

All Sorts of Learning *long blog post warning*

Here is some of our learning from last week and this week so far...

Zoe and Hana used the rods to work out a 10's square:

We drew, indian inked and water painted these 'Klimt' inspired trees on Friday, we worked very hard and learnt many new techniques......

We finished our inquiry into what we treasure now and in the past by answering what we treasure.......

and showing innovation through designing and making our own treasure boxes:

Mrs Ray surprised us with her tepee she made!  We loved playing in it.
