Celebrations

We have had so many exciting things happening in Room 2!  We have welcomed two lovely new girls to our class, sadly said goodbye to Mason, had birthday and celebrated some great work!  

Bye Mason, we will miss you and know you will love your new school in the Manawatu.

Hello to Serenity-Rose and Hana!! Hana comes from Egypt and we are so excited to learn about her home country.  We are teaching her English.  

Happy Birthday to our first 6 year old Regan!

Ka Pai to Grace her has worked so hard on writing a journal from her holiday in Australia! 

Creativity & Taonga

We have been such creative kids lately.....we are really enjoying learning about the treasures from the past and now. 

We created our own mini waka and even made our own poi!  We have an assembly next week to show off our poi skills.

Problem Solving Double Trouble

We had a neat truck problem to solve!  We first had to work out that a truck has to have the same number of wheels on each side or it would tip over.  Then we wrote the important information down about there being 8 wheels on each truck and 2 trucks.  Mrs Ray sent us off with some trucks and wheels and we had a play.  We were able to count that 2 trucks would by 16 wheels (after lots of counting and adding)!  We love problem solving.

Constable Jacob Visits Us-Kia Kaha

On Monday Constable Jacob came to talk to us about Kia Kaha, how to ask for help.  We got to do a role play to show if someone was being mean to us.  We were able to show Constable Jacob that we would go and ask for help, or tell on the person.  We also learnt that the police are there to help us and not to be scared of.  We were awarded a special badge that we got to make and wear for the day.

We learnt that we are all special in different ways and have many things that make us special like.....

What Do We Treasure?

We had a lovely start to our new inquiry this term by asking and answering 'What is Treasure?' and then 'What do we Treasure?'.  We had such great answers and after awhile, started thinking that our family were treasures!  Mrs Ray has had an old treasure chest sitting in our class all week and she FINALLY opened it and shared one of her treasures....her family photo.  Everyone then, wanted to share their own family photos so we that's what we are doing!  

Oh the Places You'll Go Mural

After many hours spent making our paper mache hot air balloons and painting our mural, it is finally done and up on our ceiling.  It looks super fun and we love the colours!

Welcome back to Term 2!
This term we have so much learning to jam pack in and we have made a great start! 

Welcome to our new twins, who join us from Auckland.  We are very happy you in Room 2.
