Problem Solving

In Room 2 we are learning to be problem solvers.  We are introduced to a problem, have a talk about the words in the problem and highlight the key numbers. We then have a bit of fun acting out the problem so we really understand what the question is asking us. Then we set off in buddies or our own with some equipment to try and solve the problem.  Mrs Ray wanders around asking us questions like: 

Tell me what you are doing? Why (how) did you think of that? Why are you doing this? What will you do with that work when you’ve got it? Why is this idea better than that one? You’ve been trying that idea for 5 minutes. Is it time to try something else? Can you tell me how you worked that out and is there another way to do it?

At the end we have a chat about what we found out and how we went about it. We love it!
