Matariki Weaving and Assembly Sharing
Room 21 are using creativity to answer our inquiry question ‘what do we treasure?’,
We have learned that in June, Maori treasure their new year celebration called Matariki. Families get together and look at the stars and tell stories.
One story we read was called The Seven Kites of Matariki. Just like the story we have made our own special kites for the new year.
We learned how to weave and make a creative star and feather kite to celebrate Matariki. This took us many hours and lots of patience!
