Today we had to estimate (have a good guess) at which jar had 100 objects in and how many we thought were in each. We wrote down our guesses using our new knowledge of 100 and then we counted them all together. We were all tricked by how big the cubes were and thought that had the most! Guess which one had 100?
It was A jar with the tiny beads and we counted them in 10 groups of 10 to get 100 as that was more efficient !!!!!
Welcome to our class blog for 2019. We are a class of Year 1 students and we are excited to share our learning with you. Please leave us comments to make our blog come to life!

Toys From Around the World
This week we looked at answering our inquiry question: Does every country have the same toys as us?
We looked at some photographs of children around the world with their toys and then Mrs Ray brought some toys in to share with us from Japan, Russia, Hungary, England and NZ!

A Mouse Visits and We Make Fidget Spinners
Mrs Ray brought her daughter's pet mouse 'Darcy' to school for two days last week. We enjoyed putting her in her yellow ball and watching her roll around the classroom. We wrote a neat story about Darcy and learnt a little about mice too.
On Friday we made our own fidget spinners. We used recycled cardboard, a toothpick, 20c coins and hot glue to make them. We love our handmade fidget spinners! Template here.

We Love Our Mummy's and Autumn Leaf Fights
We have created some Mothers Day art to show how much we love our Mums! Mrs Ray also interviewed us about our Mums and wrote EXACTLY what we said!
We also had an amazing time playing the Autumn leaves this week. We write some neat stories about it too!

Our New Inquiry- Innovation
We have started our new inquiry for the term all about Innovation, What would happen if? And toys!
First, we had a look at some books about toys and some pictures too. We watched a video how lego was invented and got to have a play with some of Mrs Ray's children's special toys.
Then we came up with some 'WE WONDER' questions to answer over our inquiry. Here are our questions..... (we will be busy!)
Then we looked at grouping toys from the past with toys from now. We found some we had in the past and now! What made a Venn diagram to compare the toys.
